@ConferenceEshe @abalzeau @ESHE_society It takes a lot of courage to go against a powerful man like Jean-Jacques Hublin and we can’t expect everyone to have it. But covering up cowardice by making irrelevant comments about the reporter who helped victims to tell their stories goes a step further.

@LeMoustier Yes I am feeling the same way as you. I hope that at least the people who have chosen to attend, at the business meeting, will speak up if there is the opportunity. Failure to do so is an explicit endorsement of the status quo.

I am going to follow research coming out from #eshe2019 as it's the only major #humanorigins meeting (US #palaeos are good but smaller). However this is not an endorsement of current 'business as usual'. This is the tension; it needs to be resolved by reform of governance.

Some are boycotting whole meeting, but I understand others who feel they can't miss only chance to see colleagues & hear their excellent research. If you're at #eshe2019 there are still ways you can support calls for change (I'd support a rotating co-presidency).
