@MichaelRosenYes I led a school through the pandemic. I read the newest guidance every time it was published. I followed the rules. It was my duty to keep my school community as safe as possible. Then I caught Covid, then developed Long Covid. It took my health & my livelihood. They laugh at us.

It is very lonely being a cvd realist. Almost no one I've talked to seems to have thought about how this would work in the coming years with serial infections. No one will come out unharmed.
"When the going gets tough, the tough get going" certainly applies to this stage of the pandemic. The constant danger to one's health, and the mental strain of resisting mass denial, are wearisome. Many will weaken and give up, but some of us are determined never to surrender.
Covid-19 has shown no signs of relenting. I fear that even many of those who wear masks are starting to forget how urgent the pandemic has become. They express concerns about where we will be 20 years from now, whereas I am concerned about 20 months from now, or even 20 weeks.
