@lewisknaggs42 How does v3 leap off the pad so quickly. Can’t just be dry mass reduction because the added ship prop should almost entirely negate that. I’m confused. What about flight 13 didn’t they run the engines harder?
@Z4chOnEarth Not to mention it is in SpaceX’s best interest. SpaceX is getting help from the most accomplished space agency in history to help make their commercial product even more capable.
@moejama64@Truthful_ast Space X plans to use this space craft to return from the moon dumbass, yea orion is also meant to return but's hls isn't just a lunar lander it's also meant for reentry and even if it was just a lunar lander why would you need that big of a ship to land a crew of 4 on the moon ??
@JK_Lundblad Despite this I have no doubts ULA can modify centaur V. They already have multiple variants with varying tank volumes in development. The only concern I have is the switch to inconel. As for the kick stage, I think it could just be a second ESM.
@JEF_300@Mach5Waffleiron Do we know if this takes into account NG’s current performance or after they upgrade it with new engines and propellant sub cooling? Because NG can only do 34.4t vs 45t right now.
@moonwarnow The earliest NG can return to flight is definitely Q1 2027. I see no possibility of them launching this quarter, given that they plan on returning the vehicle to the launch pad by November. And I don’t see any gigantic umbilical structures lying around. I’ll belive it when I see
@chesbooks@LowIQSpaceymen@KenKirtland17 I know SpaceX can handle high cadence and insane logistics. I am unsure if Blue Origin can do the same. Keep in mind for Blue to be on track they’ll have to fly NG 9x4 four times next year (Not including any test flights).
@pintleinjector SpaceX easily. You’re telling me Blue can launch 4 NG 9x4s in rapid succession by the end of next year - early 2028? I find it a lot more reasonable that SpaceX can launch 20 times if need be as they’ve crossed 1 ship every 30 days with S45. That’s at least 12 flights already.
@LowIQSpaceymen@KenKirtland17 20 Starship launches (conservative) sounds a lot more reasonable than 4 NG 9x4s.
Starship has crossed 1 ship every 30 days in production with S45 and has 4 additional launch pads under active construction. NG 9x4 has 1 and we have no idea what production will be like.
@lewisknaggs42@KenKirtland17 They said during it that 9x4 will be needed for Mk2 and the supporting stages. Eric Berger has been saying that they need 4 9x4s for a while now so it checks out.
@KenKirtland17 Starship has 4 launch pads under active construction and ship production has crossed 1/30 days with S45. 9x4 has one pad under construction and we have 0 clue what the GS2 production for that will be.
It is so refreshing to hear a NASA administrator address issues that have long been these huge elephants in the room, like Orion's inability to reach low-lunar orbit. Everyone knew it was an issue, but no one did anything about it for 15 years. Finally, it's being addressed.
@KenKirtland17@Truthful_ast They mentioned in the conference that it was 9x4 and Eric Berger has been reporting 4 9x4s since like around the time of Flight 13 iirc.
