People told me to write my landing page with the kind of copy that a 7th grader would understand. But why would 7th graders be reading a landing page about divorce lawyers?
#landingpage tip: if you create a landing page for your business, you're going to get more leads and sales. Doesn't matter if you don't have a USP, irresistible offer or clear, consistent call to action.
#landingpage tip: get rid of all text and replace with video. Nobody reads anything anymore. Especially when they are at work or on the train.
#landingpage tip: avoid long copy. If it's long nobody will read it. Doesn't matter how badly they want to solve their problem. Thank me later.
How's this for an intro to a dentists website: "If you're suffering from toothache, this will be the most important website you'll ever read. Here's why..."
I don't have a website, but if I did, it would say that I'm the person who writes words that win.
All copywriters should stick to the rules. Rules found in books 50 years ago when pregnancy was a fireable offense, job security hinged on your weight or the softness of your hands and you couldn't open a bank account unless you had a husband to cosign for you.
Your product isn't important. It's all been done before. Copy is what makes stuff sell.
I don't get on well with designers. They just want to butcher my words.
I just can't get enough of the word "killer" in my copy. It has a certain je ne sais quoi.
Can't decide whether to start my landing page with Dear Friend or Attention Savvy Biz Owner? Either way, we're drinking champagne tonight.
Maybe if I put this headline in red, people will think it's more important.
