Try making the first step ridiculously small.
Not “write the whole essay.” Just open the document.
Not “change my life.” Just do 5 minutes.
You don’t need to feel completely ready to begin.
CTRL + CURIOUS: making sense of ourselves, one rabbit hole at a time
Have you ever wanted to do something so badly, thought about it for weeks, planned everything…
…and then somehow did absolutely NOTHING? 😭
Because why am I both the person with the dreams AND the person standing in the way? 🧵
And suddenly, you’ve cleaned your room, watched 14 videos, reorganised your entire life in your head and researched the perfect notebook.
Everything except the one thing you actually needed to do.
Productivity’s biggest scam is looking productive. 😭
Psychologists call one version of this procrastination.
You delay a task partly because avoiding it gives you temporary relief from uncomfortable feelings.
The task is still there, obviously.
But for five minutes, your brain gets to pretend it doesn’t exist. 😭
Sometimes, the problem isn’t laziness.
Starting something means risking failure, embarrassment, or finding out you’re not as good at it as you hoped.
So your brain offers you a safer alternative: don’t start.
No attempt, no immediate disappointment. 💀

Can we talk about how EVERY book is suddenly a New York Times bestseller? 😭
At this point, I’m starting to think the books are giving each other awards.
But seriously, what does “bestseller” actually mean? Because surely they can’t ALL be the best-selling books. 🧵
A book can sell millions and be poorly written. Another can be brilliant and barely sell.
The market measures what people buy. It doesn’t automatically measure what is worth reading.
Its ranking depends on the list, category, time period and sales being measured.
So when you see that shiny bestseller sticker, the next question should be: bestseller WHERE, WHEN and according to WHICH list?
Context, my dear reader. Context. 🤌🏽
Basically, “bestseller” has a specific context. It doesn’t automatically mean “the greatest book known to humanity.”
And this is where it gets interesting.
A book can be a bestseller without selling millions of copies.
So, the New York Times bestseller list is a real thing, but here’s the catch: it isn’t a universal ranking of every book ever sold.
It’s a curated list based on reported sales data, with categories and methodology that influence which books make the cut.
