I sincerely hope @SportsnetPR understands the problem with @hockeynight and they’re genuinely hoping to do some major restructuring following Rhudey’s announced departure. They’ve had people who flat out HATED the game of hockey on that program (e.g. Botterill, Sloan, Cox). Nobody, and I mean NOBODY wants to hear that Rat Ron MacLean’s mouth anymore. How about no more “analysts” who didn’t play/coach/manage in the NHL? Crazy idea? How about a new host that doesn’t sound like a clueless, rambling yokel who doesn’t stab his best friend in the back? How about ABSOLUTELY NO POLITICAL TALK ON THE HOCKEY TALK SHOW? I want to see goals, fights, and hits highlights, not discussions about Black Lives Mattering and Donald Trump. The woke movement died years ago and you’re still dry humping its corpse. It’s over. Talk about HOCKEY. The virus that has infected HNIC is needs to be eradicated. It can’t be pinned down to one individual, but rather a corporate-mandated ideology that flies in the face of their target audience, resulting in the near-total alienation of viewers. Do you honestly believe that chain-smoking, wrench-turning beer drinkers want to tune in and hear Jennifer Botterill telling them “words can hurt”? I get it, most Canadian cities are now basically New Mumbai with gay pride parades, but the majority of your audience is blue collar hockey fans. They’re the same people/type of people who made this goddamn show popular to begin with. How about catering to them? Social Justice Night in Canada has been a far-leftist symposium since Don Cherry’s firing. It has become a parody of itself—a meme. TNT has a bunch of drunken ex-NHLers—including the Great One (or two or three), Wayne Gretzky himself—and they’re tap dancing all over HNIC. Those who prefer to watch Ron and Jennifer are the same people who like to watch their wives fuck other men. And please note this rant comes out of love, not hate. Hockey Night in Canada was a staple of my life. I hope one day it can be run by those who understand the audience.

Good for Marner for finally being clutch in his 10th playoff run, however: -chose to leave, Leafs offered big money to stay -9 chances in Toronto to do this -same people saying he wasn't a problem forgot past tweets are searchable -Utah + Anaheim are not Florida, Tampa, Boston

If Marner did this in a single game 6 for the Leafs, he wouldn’t even be in Vegas. What a goal. Good for him. It’s great that he’s succeeding there. It doesn’t erase his Toronto failures. It’s possible to have different legacies with different teams.
