What you describe by using the ‘Strange but true’ throw away line with a shrug ….. is an illusion of “Democracy”. This system is really designed to be abused by those captured within the system. Translates into autocratic decision making. This is where the term ‘Elites’ stems from. On the federal level, a party can and did prorogue parliament (Abuse) the body apparently accountable to the people and simply to buy time to install a new leader (one that nobody directly chose). Simply put, It’s management by the elite. Then, with barely a majority, that cabal including the installed leader can and do exercise massive power, not to dissimilar to a presidential system with an executive branch. In other words, the parliamentary system is 100% an illusion and mocks the term ‘democracy’. This is why, when things go astray, as has been happening in the west, decisions are made that are in fact NOT in the best interests of the people supposedly being represented. Corruption takes over and the mindset of maintaining the institutions and institutional power becomes the primary concern over decisions that can best serve the people. Bureaucracy never stops growing, and a managerial class takes over in their own self interests. Notice the demographics of who actually is paying the price during these times? Has any eggheads with the credentials who make nothing ever affected? Institutions that literally make not a thing, that are conceptual entities at best …. Never pay the price.

The fact that there is an equal and opposite reaction to decades of identity politics should not be of any surprise. The politics of division results in division. It’s the Yin Yang effect. And it’s easy and virtuous to call out your concerns with this group. Yet, where is the accountability for the indoctrination, the persistent narrative that has made every sub group a victim of another ? Are people surprised? Is there any culpability, accountability on the progressive politics that has set the table? (Said as an observer of human behaviour and in no way aligned with any tribal nonsense)

The reason EU member states were blind sided is exactly the way Canadians, parliament and even many of those who joined the ‘Team Canada’ approach were blindsided as well. It is 100% Top down from the Managerial class. And the top technocrat, Carney, has been assigned new ‘leader of the free world’. GROUPTHINKERS Carney found an audience with like minded group-thinkers who manage the EU. Not the EU Body, just the managers assigned at the top. These technocrats have bypassed democratic principles for decades, well protected within their various institutions … made by them … financed by us. This type of governance is text book ‘Jacobin’ born of the French Revolution. These clowns ARE at the top of the hierarchy, replaced Monarchies and Republics alike. The managerial class use ‘Democracy’ as camouflage, whereby they continue with their very real illiberal and autocratic decisions and rules decreed from on up.

Your point 1 - Agreed Your point 2 - needs to be expanded upon. ‘Shortcomings’ misses the mark & is a descriptor that doesn’t come close to expressing dramatic differences in how Canada should negotiate & leverage with EU versus using that minimalist language, pretending like it would be a magical fit. Your point 3 - Piece’s author doesn’t know and you either. Both are conjecture. Many are concerned that Carney & team sought and found a like minded technocracy (These managers are all cut from the same cloth). In other words, they’re groupthinkers. Canada has all the leverage (Sincerely). And we need to act like it when dealing with EU. The very EU institution is systemically flawed with purposeful handcuffs/over regulation/ top down mindset in order to control every element. What is missing from their system, is any valve to provide representation by the actual Peasants, the Plebs and the Serfs whom these arrogant managers have clearly repeatedly bypassed. It’s a system of governance born from the ‘Jacobins’ of the French Revolution.

I certainly hope the ‘costs’ are shared across the board! In other words, the Red team’s base of well educated, credentialed, government bureaucrats, technocrats, NGO’s, acedamia, media … you know … those that are captive to their institutional salary busy managing the ‘Plebs’ share equally with Canadians who actually make shit, get there hands dirty, have a shower at the end of the day as opposed to the beginning. I’m doubtful the Reds will surrender their voting base. In fact, it would appear the group thinkers are seeking closer ties to the ultimate technocracy over there in Europe.

There are many elements to this growing situation which reflect a much larger problem than failed progressive public policy. Frankly, it’s a mirror reflecting a culture in decline. Welcome to a secular humanism society where judging a behaviour is purposely conflated with judging the individual. The criminal justice system deals with criminal behaviour on behalf of the whole of society. Interactions are inevitable based on criminal behaviour. That should be the extent of that one government institution. Treatment programs only work if the individual truly wants the treatment. Even then, relapse is high. Progressive programs which literally enable unwanted behaviour most definitely are not the solution. Many suspect those programs reward the virtue of the program designers over potential real solutions.

The message, as has been said by CPC for years, is not in any way unreasonable. However, in this country, ignorant voters apparently need to hear it from a Red Team player. Otherwise, it’s evil. Carney is really hoping to persuade his Red radicals and ignorant voter base. There is nobody in the real world that would not agree with the message. Those resisters ALL form part of his red coalition, those captured by their institutional paycheck, the well educated whose ideology and luxury beliefs need to be parked. Unfortunately, the progressive class have an extraordinarily large ego, and are terrible at practising introspection. They prefer to rely on their cognitive dissonance.

A Canadian who has a proclivity leaning right, or libertarian and free market understands completely how the structure in Canada most definately picks winners and non participants. A CPC leader would understand this and realize that that system would have to be blown up, yet is pragmatic enough to realize he could never sell it because of the corruption and dependency as described above. Since, to my knowledge, there hasn’t been a CPC opposition to the actual summit, then Scott’s statement is without foundation.

That is an uncomfortable truth to most progressives. Their politics is based on resentment and envy, masked in virtue signalling aimed at selfish ego driven social standing (they may believe it, but suspend any critical thinking skill development). Even those who’s proclivity is right leaning will acknowledge another gab fest with elites might, in any way, provide an avenue for the Red team holders of power (the only party allotted grace and space to do 180 foundational policy shifts) to be open to a truth reconciliation session on their terrible, wrong, and damaging economic policies of this past decade. Unfortunately, many suspect continued groupthink sessions on certain ideological fronts.

Regardless of what the ‘Orange’ man is doing (convenient target), it bypasses the obvious rejection of the neoliberal system and its very obvious failure and unsustainability. What you paint as evil right wing is in actuality … let this sink in … a grass roots rejection of the Managerial Progressive class’ failed policies and policy direction. Your ilk have had the thumb on the scale through institutional growth of government, NGO’s, Foundations, government sponsored enterprises, quasi official agencies. All of which are employed by ‘captured’ indoctrinated employees muzzled by their pay cheque. Grassroots don’t want to go too far right because most understand that journey. Rather, grassroots are pissed with your ilk having travelled too far left, never once having conducted introspection on the real life consequences on the average ‘Pleb’ or ‘Serf’.
