My sole aspiration was inclusion, yet the foremost challenge transcended extracting my children from an abusive milieu. It entailed seeking acceptance in the affluent realms of DC. Health issues exacerbated advocacy, causing frustration to morph into anger, & subsequently, pain.
Pausing my aspirations to embrace full-time fatherhood proved challenging yet imperative. My children, having endured abuse, presented a daunting responsibility. Doubting my capability for sole custody, compassion and duty propelled me forward.
In my youth, I observed the violent demise of a dear friend, triggering enduring anxiety and profound pain. I vowed to prevent my offspring from normalizing such atrocities. Have I triumphed or faltered in my endeavors?

@EJGoulet @ChmnMendelson @councilofdc The fact of the matter is that truant kids are not criminals and should not be treated as such— but the longer we wait to address truancy and make sure kids have no barriers to succeeding in school the more likely they are to become involved in crime. These kids deserve better.
Amazing levels of bureaucratic dysfunction: - "significant discrepancies" between the # of truancy referrals from DCPS & the # Court Social Services received - They switched to email for referrals but haven't finished setting up an address for DC Public Charter Schools...
