On the 53rd anniversary of the worse peace time disaster in the RCN. Hearts and prayers to the survivors and families of the 1969 crew of HMCS KOOTENAY. Thanks to all you attended the ceremony and to the province and city for proclaiming KOOTENAY day. Lest we forget.

Amazing opportunity to meet the team and see the progress of the Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Centre. One of our many healthcare investments which is progressing very well. Highly motivated team working hard for Nova Scotians. Can’t wait until it is open.

Thanks to the parents, guardians, CIC officers, Civilian Instructors, volunteers, Navy League officers, Sponors, Branches, CAF and the myriad of supporters for delivering the programme. Sincere thanks to the youth who come out. For without whom, there is no reason. 3/3

Cadets and Junior Rangers are youth centre programmes focussed on citizenship, leadership and physical fitness. It is absolutely free of charge to all participants. Earlier today there was a flag raising at Province House with the Lieutenant Governor marking this occasion. 2/3

Today is Nova Scotia’s Provinical Cadet Day. It recognizes the contributions that Sea, Army, Air, Junior Rangers and Navy League cadets make to their communities, provinces and country. 1/3

National Truth and Reconciliation Day, reminds us that we are called, every day, to understand our past and find ways to reconcile for a more inclusive and bright future. I acknowledge that I live and work on the unceded territories of the Mi’kmaw. Wela’lin.

Beautiful ceremony in Halifax today for Her Late Majesty. Long live the King!

Rest In Peace Your Majesty. Thank you once again for your service, leadership, compassion and being a spectacular model of a servant leader. Until we meet again.

It was great to see the Martime helicopter and long range patrol craft conduct fly overs of the field along with the CAF marching contingent and Shearwater Pipes and Drums. Hope that we have more games out this way. Thanks to Acadia and Wolfville for hosting.

Incredible CFL game yesterday in Wolfville with just under 11000 people in attendance. Riders against the Argos with the Argos coming out on top 30 to 24. Super close game with lots of action, intercepts and turn overs. 1/2

Delighted to have been invited to the Change of Command Ceremony between Cmdre Michel Thibault and Capt(N) Jonathan Lafontaine. Well done Michel and good luck Jonathan.

A strong, non-partisan public service is a key component to enabling our wonderful democracy. Canada and Nova Scotia are blessed to have hard working, dedicated public servants whose focus is on services to our citizens. Happy National Public Service Week!

Very proud of the Nova Scotia Skills Team at Nationals this year. 20 medalists including secondary students. Most medals and one Team Canada member. We have the skills and are ready for life long careers. Nova Scotia is in good hands and open for business.

Very proud to be included in a ceremony that honoured Dr. Robert Strang for his exemplary leadership to all of Nova Scotia during the pandemic. Truly inspiring to hear the remarks from 3 Premiers. “Bravo Zulu Rob”. Inspirational award for an inspirational gentleman.

Very honoured to participate in the Commander RCN Change of Command Parade. Wishing VAdm Craig Baines fair winds as he sets a new course. Passing on all the best to VAdm Angus Topshee as he assumes Command and now navigates the RCN as it’s 38th Commander.

2/2: The RCAF and allied air forces provided the critical cover to deter submarines. There was still a dark zone where the convoys were on their own often with deadly results. We remember those that willingly gave of themselves to ensure victory against tyranny. Lest we forget.

1/2: If Vimy Ridge gave birth to our country, then I believe that the Battle of Atlantic forged its emergence into the international political order. The RCN and ships like HMCS SACKVILLE, were the main escorts for the Merchant Marine who carried the life line of the Allies.

3/3:Through this remembrance, we continue to keep their spirit and example, ever present. Prayers to all those directly affected by this sudden and unexpected loss.

2/3:My heart goes out to the cadets, friends and family of these young men. However, we are not alone in our grief and there is always someone around to help. Through our collective ability to come together, recognize the loss, mourn and rise again, reflects our resilient spirit.

1/3:The loss experienced at RMC is tragic and heartbreaking. As a graduate of RMC, the camaraderie and friendships developed stay with you forever. As a former National President of the Alumni, grads, like the CAF, are a family. These losses are felt, by all.
