I don't think a lot of gaming fans realize just how many future releases have evaporated into thin air over the last 18 months Projects canceled, teams scattered to the wind... so many of the experiences that were going to surprise and delight over the next 2-5 years just gone
As demoralizing it is watching the weekly job losses happen, watching the job market just get worse and worse, it's all the more heartbreaking knowing that we are probably never going to get to see what most of those folks were working on.
Gamers confidently showing up in replies and asserting that this is only affecting big AAA studios and not indie projects is very... amusing, let's say.
@DanFloydPlus Are you talking about announced titles or unannounced ones we’ll never find out about? Because I legit don’t know of any cancelled announced games
@DanFloydPlus Yes, unfortunately that happens too many times. We are working hard to end our early access next month (May 13 to be exact) Check out the demo if you like dungeon crawlers (before we change it if you want to notice the effort hehe) store.steampowered.com/app/2456160/Do…
@DanFloydPlus I wish it would be common for devs to just leak the whole project if it gets cancelled tbh
@DanFloydPlus Film industry tossing out finished films for tax breaks, Nintendo attempting to ensure emulation can't provide perpetual access to titles not beefy enough to get perpetual publisher support, publishers removing titles from the libraries of paying customers...
@DanFloydPlus Entertainment itself seems to be collapsing in on itself. Movies are being scrapped, workers being laid off, TV channels being shut down, it all just isn't going great
