Feels like Jackson Lewis wants in on the fun of suing the NCAA. On the surface, this doesn’t seem like a slam dunk. Also, odd that Jackson Lewis, a law firm that prides itself on representing employers, is representing a couple players against what feels like an employer?

Virginia, Mississippi, and Nebraska recently modified their respective #NIL laws. Players continue to transfer across state lines. And Congress can't find consensus on a national law. Here's this week's newsletter: linkedin.com/pulse/newslett…
CAA reps 12 of the 32 (37.5%) players selected in the 1st round of the 2024 #NFLDraft. Athletes First and WME Sports each rep 4 1st rounders, followed by Excel and Wasserman with 2 each. 2 players have no agent. The breakdown: sportsagentblog.com/2024/04/25/202…
Through 12 picks in the 2024 #NFLDraft, CAA has 5 clients selected and no other agency has more than 1 client off the board.

Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison Jr., the 1st and 4th overall picks in the 2024 #NFLDraft, decided to go into the Draft without signing agents. @SportsAgentBlog will provide player-agent pairings, as always: sportsagentblog.com/2024/04/25/202…
Leading up to the #NFLDraft, here are the agents by # of clients on NFL rosters: 1. @DrewJRosenhaus (82) 2. Joel Segal (54) T3. @DavidMulugheta (53) T3. Jimmy Sexton (53) 5. @ToryDandy (51) 6. @davidcanter (50) 7. @NessMugrabi (41) 8. Joe Linta (37) via @InsideTheLeague
Teamworks will develop a process to collect #NIL contracts and build a voluntary registration process for agents and other service providers. The registry will include a ratings and dispute resolution system + background info about the agents/service providers.

East Tennessee State athletic director says the basketball team needs at least $200k in #NIL funds to be competitive in the Southern Conference. richmond.com/sports/college…
Nebraska's new #NIL law mirrors the current NCAA rule that prohibits schools from directly compensating athletes. Interestingly it leaves the door open for change if the NCAA modifies its policy, a court rejects the NCAA's prohibition, or there is a "settlement agreement."
Mississippi's new #NIL law includes a provision I do not like. Allowing a brand or athlete to terminate a contract when the athlete's participation in the sport in college ends may result in lucrative multi-year deals not being executed. What's the justification? Why make it…
How much money is Caleb Williams saving by not having an agent? It’s not as much as you may think. The NFLPA caps agent fees at 3%. Every agent would take 1% or less to rep a guaranteed #1 overall pick. Many would do the 1st contract (which is slotted) for no commission.…
Seeing more #NIL collective contracts include terms that require athletes to reimburse the collective if they enter the Transfer Portal. If the athlete has leverage, which includes signing with a collective that doesn't require that language, then the athlete should push back.
I hear that many top prospects are less inclined to attend the NFL Draft in this world where they are accustomed to being paid for their appearances. For some, it remains an honor. For others, they would rather be surrounded by friends and family in a comfortable environment.
I had to doublecheck to make sure this wasn’t a fake Pete Thamel account. This is great news. I know @JManziel2 is smiling.
