You can build and run an MVP for ~$20/month. Claude for coding. Supabase for backend. Vercel for deployment. GitHub, Cloudflare... and more on free tiers. Building software has never been cheaper. But that creates a new bottleneck: code is getting cheaper, distribution isn’t.
I’ll publish the builds, failures, benchmarks and lessons here. No framework religion. No “X is dead” nonsense. Just experiments. Mobile Dev Lab #01 starts with: Native vs Cross-platform. What should I test first?
Vibe coding mobile apps: Native or cross-platform? I think AI coding agents may change this old tradeoff. So instead of debating Swift/Kotlin vs Flutter/React Native, I’m going to build the same app with each. Welcome to my Mobile Dev Lab 🧪
My hypothesis: Cross-platform won partly because building iOS + Android separately was expensive. But if AI dramatically reduces that cost, does native become attractive again for small teams and solo builders? That’s what I want to test.
I won’t just measure “how fast can AI build it?” I’ll compare: • MVP speed • UI quality • debugging • native APIs • testing • performance • deployment • maintainability Because prototype velocity ≠ production engineering.
The experiment: Same product. Same requirements. 4 stacks: • Swift / SwiftUI • Kotlin / Compose • Flutter • React Native I want to see what happens when AI does a large part of the engineering.
