Saw some strange action with Honey Bees while I was in Concan TX for the Eclipse. There was algae on the surface of the water in a water feature. Critters would try and catch the frogs and tadpoles in the water. By doing this they pulled the algae up on the lip of the feature.…

@3sekko This perch is about 30 feet up in the air. It is a dead branch that sticks up above the leaves on the tree. It has a great view of the area below. Great for hunting insects!!!
I will always get upset when ppl lecture me on nutrition, exercise, & other behaviors they say will “fix” my mental illness. one of the first signs I’m depressed is that it becomes near impossible to do these things & I know I need to do them to feel better. it’s a terrible cycle

While we were at Garner State Park, we located a popular high perch that the birds would frequent. We were able to get 3 different birds at the same location!!! #nature #naturephotography #birdphotography #birdwatching #birds

another day sober: 176 I've been in a dark place lately. I used to drink to get through these periods; being present w bad feelings is hard. but I feel like I'm forging my way out of this dark & lonely place to a place of light & community—of sobriety—in large part bc of y'all.
good news: had a physical today & my primary physician referred me to a new psychiatrist & made some medication changes she’s confident will help my depression & panic in the meantime. mental illness is not easy, y’all. managing it is a full time job on top of a full time job.

I'm mess right now but William & Mary seniors chose me as an honorary faculty marshal & I've never been more proud of a professional accomplishment. so many awards are faculty & administrators shifting through applications, but for this the students chose me & that is everything.
I need some encouragement: I can pull it together, right? I can live a sober life? I can grade promptly & write steadily & eat healthily & exercise regularly & meditate & read instead of scroll through social media & be a good person? bc it feels so hard & don’t know what to do.
I feel better today: ty for the love. of note: I attend recovery meetings, have a therapist, psychiatrist, & great primary physician. I try to be healthy. I still have bouts of depression bc I’m #bipolar & that’s what it’s like living w mental illness. but I’m 173 days sober!

Saw some strange action with Honey Bees while I was in Concan TX for the Eclipse. There was algae on the surface of the water in a water feature. Critters would try and catch the frogs and tadpoles in the water. By doing this they pulled the algae up on the lip of the feature.…

hi, 5 months & 14 days sober. this morning I was reading a student’s paper & in it she wondered if what makes us human is light, being drawn to & nourished by the light, having faith in the light, even in the midst of the darkness of depression. her words will stay w me.
