For @thenation, I wrote about Jonathan Glazer and why his Oscar speech was so triggering for supporters of Israel’s war thenation.com/article/cultur…
@DavidKlion @thenation Brilliant, especially that last line. 👏
@DavidKlion @thenation Ah, those over-sensitive Jews, getting all upset when you equate them trying to defend themselves to the Holocaust.
@DavidKlion @thenation My primary beef with the speech was that it was poorly phrased, leading many ppl to believe that he was refuting his Jewishness instead of his "Jewishness being hijacked" yadda yadda yadda. Also, I still don't understand why we care what he thinks. He's just a filmmaker.
@DavidKlion @thenation Right on and absolutely on point with Arendt and the Banality of Evil which so many readers and her critics have misunderstood.
@DavidKlion @SusanSarandon @thenation there is no defence to genocide
@DavidKlion @thenation Yes, you get it.
@DavidKlion @mehdirhasan @thenation ...the image in the full sized mirror was too revealing. So they covered it in hot steaming rhetoric, obscuring the glassed reflection by turning the space into a members only sauna. The only self reflection from here on out was to be compact, framed, or digitally altered.
