If someone EVER tells you Bret’s WCW run failed because he was “checked out”, watch 2/22/99 vs Booker T. What an incredible match.
@DaxFTR Bret vs DDP Nitro October 1998 Bret vs Flair Souled Out 1998 Bret vs Luger Nitro 1998 Bret vs Benoit March 1999 Bret vs Savage Slamboree 1998 Bret vs Sting Nitro 1999 Bret vs JJ Nitro 1999 Bret vs Saturn All are awesome
@DaxFTR That’s B.S. No one was more committed to having WCW succeed than Bret! No one told him what he was doing till 2m before he was coming out! Vince survived in the 90’s from the money Bret brought as a massive draw in overseas markets,WCW would’ve survived if they had done the same.
@DaxFTR I popped huge when he came out on Thunder, aligned with Luger and unexpectedly starting beating on Davey & Anvil. Heenan: "He's beating up his own brothers-in-law!" 🤣
@DaxFTR It failed because they saw him as a top talent for their upcoming B Show. It would've worked if they realized that Hart/HBK was the hottest program in wrestling - and having Hart take out Nash & Hall would've brought that program to Nitro by proxy.
@DaxFTR His debut against Flair was great too. As was his series with DDP
@DaxFTR @MrMatthew1997 Brett’s WCW run just goes to show that you can have the best out there and still ruin them with shitty booking.
