Had a good navaratri seva at thiruvallikeni. My favorite thirukkolam - Gajalakshmi - by Shri Vedavalli Thayar. Gajalakshmi's chief guNa is kArunyam. The two elephants beside her are so beautiful.

Navaratri is a festival for durgA, but as I clarified earlier, mahAlakshmi conducts it because until mukti, even great bhAgavatAs like durgA and hanuman are not supposed to have 9-10 day festivals as per the Agamas.

Like Hanuman to Rama, She is to Krishna. But brahmachari/brahmacharini as well. The conch, discus etc came of their own accord to her, when she decided to become bhagavAn's protector.
