"This reality begins with a simple idea: The function of our government isn’t to ensure that all men are economically equal. Only theft and compulsion can guarantee equal outcomes," writes @RepChrisStewart. deseret.com/opinion/2020/9…
@DeseretNews @RepChrisStewart If only @RepChrisStewart's description bore any resemblance to the reality of the American economy, then maybe we could discuss the merits of his argument. Instead, we live in an oligopoly in which hard work means much less than where and what color one is born.
@DeseretNews @RepChrisStewart Well we already have theft and compulsion (see Pres. Trump and other recipients of corporate welfare). Can we either get rid of that or can we at least get to the equal outcomes part?
@DeseretNews @StewartforUtah @RepChrisStewart Theft and compulsion in the US guarantee unequal outcomes in the US: citizens’ hard work is stolen by billionaires - enabled by congress passing massive tax breaks - producing massive economic inequality not seen for 40 years. I have no idea how to fix it!
