How to avoid getting BEAR HOLED and not miss epic rallies
We've all been there - be on the right side of a downturn and then getting stuck in a bearish bias that leaves you sidelined or short squeezed when the next rally comes
Most bear holes in crypto revolve around the mental model of rallies being implausible due to
(1) No new flows entering the space
(2) An overfocus on visible supply flows (mt gox, US Gov coins, Celsius, FTX, etc)
First, one must realize that no new $ needs to enter the space for rallies to occur, given that all markets are momentum driven, the only requirement is that short term demand is greater than short term supply. More about that here:
x.com/rewkang/status…
Secondly, the vast majority of traders overestimate their visibility of all flows in the space. Both for sidelined capital and new capital. In reality most may only have visibility of <0.1% of flows and supply side flows tend to be more publicly visibly which influences bearish bias.
Let's talk about the demand side where in bear markets people tend to underestimate because they aren't seeing retail mania. Just between Tether and Microstrategy alone you already have a $3-5B annual DCA bid on $BTC. But what about the other asset managers that are also DCAing? Family offices, the 60+ million millionaires in the world, even standard retail participants with an interest in crypto aggregated together would represent a meaningful absorption of supply out of the market over time. Then you have some discretionary allocations from pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, macro funds, etc. All of these people and institutions spread across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, etc represent A LOT of liquidity that exists for crypto.
You won't be able to track all demand flows but its important to recognize that crypto is a global asset recognized as an investment choice to most allocators in the world. Just look around CT and your peers and you will see people from all backgrounds, geographies, walks of life. And then there are certain events (BITCOIN ETF) or periods of time where crypto draws more serious attention from some or all of these allocators and can more acutely affect demand.
Anyways, it always pays better to be a bull than a dirty gay bear
You must understand that there must not need to be a reason for the market to rally other than exhausted supply
A market that goes up without reason can also be a testament of strength
Crypto is largely a momentum-driven market and there is $10B+ of capital delegated to
