@flybe I'd rather have the flight delay & cancellation compensation promised over 3 months ago by your customer service people.

@BorisJohnson @grantshapps @pritipatel Guys-we've no one else to ask!! My wife & I live in the states (I'm a British cit), our first child is due on Feb 6th. Providing Biden lifts the ban on inbound traffic - can my mum fly out to help on 31st Jan under current lockdown rules?

Still can’t get over @solidstatelogic building and using their own transformers in the awesome new Fusion. This is a really innovative unit. #recordingstudio

@haleysound @LCraneTapeOp Urgh tell me about it - lots of folk trying to learn to run before they can walk. But because it’s self-learning there is no one around to tell them that they’re running weird!! That’s why I personally value my years as an assistant engineer (I truly know how rare that job is!!).

Well, @LCraneTapeOp, you just said everything I’ve been feeling recently. In a single, concise page. I don’t know if this makes me feel better or worse... 😶

@timetemple @antonnewcombe @LCraneTapeOp I think this is the same deal - in your analogy here, the engineer is the pen. But in reference to the ‘rush to knowledge’- it’s like the writer is using a quill on partridge paper, but hasn’t used a pencil then biro then ball point then fountain pen to know when each is right.

@timetemple @antonnewcombe @LCraneTapeOp Entirely. We’re in the business of making and selling magic. Not mic techniques. It’s a very fine line but the aim is to stay out of the way of the musician making the thing, and attempt to extract the awesome noise they make. I think. Right?🤷‍♂️

@6bq9music @LCraneTapeOp It’s not necessarily originality that I think is the issue for me - it’s more the art of being an engineer. Those two words are seldom together in this world - but recording is one of those times! Staying out of the way of musical artists is a skill that takes time...

@antonnewcombe @LCraneTapeOp The main factor I took from Larry here is that it takes time to learn this craft. Lots and lots of time. The internet has created this immediate “I know how this works now” vibe, and I think it hinders the recording world.

@FAIRImmigration This came up in my feed as a sponsored advertisement. I’m a British Expat living in the US permanently. With multiple jobs in different states. Big fan of your work 🙄.

We have a beautiful vintage Telefunken ELA-M 251 in the Vintage King Tech Shop and recently put it to the test on a few different sound sources. Watch our demo and learn more here: bit.ly/TelefunkenELAM

@elizabetarnold It will be both the smartest and the most stupid thing you do. Keep in mind that when you’re the busiest you’ve ever been, that’s when you should be doing the most client hunting...and you’ll be set 🙃. Good luck Liz, if you need any advice you know where I am!!!

An artist I respect and admire asked me to play modular synthesizer on their project, which reminded me: if you'd like me to play modular synthesizer on your record, this is a thing that I will do.

@VallanV I once saw Susan Boyle sitting on her own in one of those over sized fold up beach deck chairs. Obviously this was at T in the Park.

I went to an American version of a pub quiz. My favourite question was: “In the UK: what are Marstons, Greene King and Bank’s brewers of?” What did people answer? “Crumpets” Not beer, or even tea..crumpets. Hey barkeep, I’ll take a warm beer to go..make it a Bathams. #RBDB
