When the GFC kicked off in September 2008, Aussies had $44bn worth of credit card debt, with $31.6bn accruing interest. Today Aussies owe $38.7bn, with just $18.2bn accruing interest. There is a great deal of scope for Aussies to turn to the plastic as Brits & Americans have.
