that no one ever has to experience the horrors that Jeanne did. Let us continue to strive towards a world where everyone can live without fear, and where tragedies like this one are a thing of the past. Rest in peace, Jeanne Clery.
work tirelessly to prevent future tragedies. As we commemorate this somber anniversary, let us remember the importance of safety and security on our campuses, in our workplaces, and in our communities. We must come together to ensure that everyone feels safe and protected, and
On April 5, 1986, a tragic event occurred at Lehigh University that changed everything. The loss of Jeanne Clery, a freshman who was raped and murdered in Stoughton Hall, was a devastating wake-up call. The Clery Act was created in her honor, and today, we honor her memory and >
Roary's Roar of the Day! The Clery Act requires institutions to send a timely warning if a Clery crime occurring in Clery geography poses a serious or ongoing threat to the campus community. Be safe!
Roary's Roar of the Day! CLERY CRIMES 4 distinct categories of crime must be included in ASR data: 1. Criminal offenses 2. Hate crimes 3. VAWA offenses 4. Arrests & referrals for disciplinary action
Roary's Roar of the Day! CLERY GEOGRAPHY Clery crimes that occur on Clery geography must be reported. Clery geography includes: • On-campus • On-campus student housing • Public property within or immediately adjacent to on-campus property • Non campus
Roary's Roar of the Day! WHAT IS THE CLERY ACT? The Clery Act is a federal law passed in 1990 that requires colleges and universities to: Record campus crimes & fires in daily logs Publicize crime & fire logs in an ASR Issue timely warnings Be safe!
Roary's Roar of the Day! Be a good friend. Watch out for each other. Stick together in groups, especially when traveling from one place to the next. If a friend is acting in a way that seems out of character, take notice. Be safe!
The Department of Public Safety and Security @CCPedu wishes you a joyous Easter!
Roary's Roar of the Day! Make plans & be prepared. When going out, know ahead of time who is going and plan to stay together as a group. Construct a backup plan for the day/night so that all of your friends know where to meet up if someone gets separated and/or their phone dies.
Roary's Roar of the Day! Party smart. Guard your drink at parties. Don’t accept one from people you don’t trust or know well. Stick to drinks you got or prepared yourself. If you go to the bathroom or step outside, take the drink with you or toss it out. Be safe!
Roary's Roar of the Day! Whether you are hanging out at a party or walking across campus, pay attention to what is going on around you. If you’re alone, only use headphones in one ear & stay aware of your surroundings. Take well-trafficked routes and avoid being isolated. Be safe
Roary's Roar of the Day! Make others earn your trust. The college environment can foster a false sense of security. Remember that you just met - even if it feels like you have been best friends for years. Don’t assume that your new friends will have your back - be safe!
Popcorn Wednesday is a chance for The Office of Student Engagement to collaborate with various college departments. Swing by, grab some popcorn, and learn a little! 🍿 Guest Department- Women's Outreach & Advocacy Center ✨
Roary's Roar of the Day! Trust your gut & be true to yourself. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. If you feel uncomfortable in a situation, trust your instincts and leave. If someone is pressuring you, trust your instincts! Be safe!
Happy Holi! May it be filled with fun and colorful memories! 🌈
Roary's Roar of the Day! Take control of your online life. Be mysterious online. Think twice before you share personal information. Constantly posting social media updates on your whereabouts, activities or class schedules may allow someone to track your every move. Be safe!
