From The Jungle podcast this week I learned that the flowers visible from the Disneyland Railroad en route to New Orleans Square are remnants of Light Magic floats. My 1997 photo doesn't show the exact matches, but you get the idea.

As we approach the beginning of the new year, I wanted to thank everyone who has enjoyed my account over the past year. This March will mark four years of this account, and I could not be happier with its success and the friends I’ve made. Truly, thank you all! Here’s to 2024!
Until 2016, you could find pipes along Muppet*Vision 3D’s extended queue that referenced Bert and Ernie! Interestingly, Disney never owned rights to any Sesame Street characters. Michael Eisner wanted to purchase them along with the rest of the Muppets, but Jim Henson refused.
Let's take a look at a bit of a different remnant today! This Room&Board can be found on the corner of Ohio and Rush in Chicago, Illinois. This building used to be home to the only out of berm DisneyQuest! It opened on June 16, 1999, and only lasted until September 4, 2001.
Let’s continue our look at the recently opened Adventureland Treehouse! Inside one of the rooms, you can find a copy of “Tarzan of the Apes” by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This is a clear reference to the treehouse’s previous Tarzan theming, when it was known as “Tarzan’s Treehouse”!
This week, let’s take a look at some remnants found within the recently opened Adventureland Treehouse! First up is Jane the ostrich! This fun animatronic is named after Jane Porter from Tarzan. Until 2021, the attraction was themed to “Tarzan’s Treehouse”!
The book "The Harambe Chronicles" in the Skipper Canteen references Kilimanjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom! The author is reserve warden Wilson Matua, who used to speak with you over the radio as you would search for Little Red! His last remnant, the pre-show, was removed in 2020.
On Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, as you enter the factory scene, listen for a cat’s growling cry. If you’re familiar with The Great Movie Ride you may recognize the sound, as it was also used in that attraction! Take a listen! Credit to @Blog_Mickey for the video!
On this map found in the Skipper Canteen, you can find the "Kimballum Horribilus". This is a reference to Ward Kimball, a designer of World of Motion and an “old man” famous for their comedic reputation! The serpent is very similar to the one found on World of Motion! 🐍

Let's take a look at a bit of a different remnant today! This Room&Board can be found on the corner of Ohio and Rush in Chicago, Illinois. This building used to be home to the only out of berm DisneyQuest! It opened on June 16, 1999, and only lasted until September 4, 2001.
I do think it is interesting how several elements of the structure were retained for its post-DisneyQuest use, such as the entrance overhang. I also love the (what I believe to be) Alucobond design compared to the more concrete styling of the Disney Springs version.
