I need DAS. I use DAS at Disneyland and I’ve used it at Walt Disney World. I’m VERY happy the system is being revised. Abuse is far too rampant and if this new system makes it harder to abuse I’m all for it. If friends or family ask why I have DAS I lie and give them a condition it’s not approved for just because I don’t want to teach people how to access DAS. So I won’t be answering questions about why I have DAS. But for the record I was qualified for DAS years before I started using it, it just wasn’t necessary at the time, and I refused to access it until it was absolutely necessary. I’ve had DAS since 2019 and I’ve never had to lie to access it or been declined when renewing it. Most importantly though, even if I no longer qualify for DAS in the new system, I will still be happy they changed it because the level of abuse in the system has essentially rendered it ineffective for people who are using it authentically. I’ll spend less time riding rides if I no longer qualify, but the people who need it most will no longer be hindered by people who treat DAS like a free lightning lane. This is a huge win for people with disabilities.
@DisneyScoopGuy First, I'm glad you are accommodated for whatever reason and it doesn't matter why. My question, would you continue to use DAS if the queues actually moved and lightning lane was far more restrictive? I feel like Disney did this to themselves.
@DisneyScoopGuy The fact that they are not considering any physical disabilities is wild to me. None. That’s not a win for people with disabilities. But Disney will certainly sell more Genie+…
@DisneyScoopGuy I’m glad to hear this. It seemed long overdue.
@DisneyScoopGuy How can it be a huge win when a large part of the community can longer use a valuable service? So many that need DAS to enjoy the parks will lose it and for what? Abuse will still happen since they didn't address the root cause of it
@DisneyScoopGuy The amount of people who ‘have IBS’ is truly unbelievable. I don’t use DAS but I do get irrationally angry at how it gets abused and is rendered essentially useless to people who ACTUALLY need it.
