I catch no end of flak for defending the place of blacks in the South, and their contributions to Southern Culture. Then this happens again. The way forward. The ONLY way forward, is to seperate considerations of race from our systems. Career criminals MUST BE INCARCERATED, regardless of race, regardless of the wailing gyrations of the NAACP, BLM, or the SPLC. We can never feel guilty if blacks are incarcerated at higher rates than other racial groups. We MUST RETURN to judging individuals on their own merits. Just as separating race issues from Southern symbols will immediately heal the public view of those symbols, separating racial considerations from criminal sentencing, enforcing the laws AS WRITTEN, will heal the wounds inflicted on cities like Charlotte.

He was wounded at Chancellorsville, May 3, 1863 before being promoted to 2nd Corporal day 2 of Gettysburg, July 2, 1863. He was wounded once more at the battle of Peebles’ Farm September 30, 1864, shortly before his surrender at Appomattox. Proud to call him my ancestor.
