Stéphane Grappelli was a French jazz violinist who founded the 'Quintette du Hot Club de France' w guitarist Django Reinhardt in 1934. It was one of the first all-string jazz bands. Often referred to as "the grandfather of jazz violinists" he played well into his 80s! #Grappelli

Early in his career Reinhardt suffered extensive burns on his left hand & drs believed that he would never play guitar again as two of his fingers remained paralyzed. By sheer will, he taught himself to overcome his now permanent handicap by using only his thumb and two fingers!
