We should consider whether it would be fair to say that we allow too much to go by default where our rights are concerned. We would have no right to complain if the laws of Jamaica are pulled offline and the contract to sell them goes to a private monopoly provider.
Furthermore, there is a monopoly on the provision of Civil Procedure Rules and even after paying for them one has to subscribe to a third party website in order to access them online.
Does anyone see any issue arising on the constitutionality of selling the rules of procedure at the present costs where technology and facilities are available for providing them free or at very minimal cost to citizens (including lawyers and litigants in person).
