What's driving the anti-democratic grievance politics seen in the UCP's Sovereignty Act, the Freedom Convoy, and MAGA? A small group of people who aren't used to losing no longer want to play the game. Problem is: the "game" is democracy. And their alternatives are far worse.
@DrJaredWesley “Aren’t used to losing”!!?? No. No. No. For nearly all of them, this is their first taste of “winning” and they’re not good at it.
@DrJaredWesley Ok baldy. You got it all figured out. 😄
@DrJaredWesley I’d wager Harper and his IDU are driving it behind the scenes.
@DrJaredWesley The Sovereignty Act is a beautiful piece of legislation. It protects the Jurisdictional Rights of AB but also exposes those aligned with the Justin Trudeau\Jagmeet Singh Regime. There is nothing wrong with protecting the rights of Alberta. Wesley, on team Trudeau\Notley.
@DrJaredWesley They want to nationalize energy, privatize healthcare/education, and violate land treaties without federal oversight.
@DrJaredWesley And they were outside smoking during Social Studies classes
@DrJaredWesley People like Jared Wesley exist in a hermetically sealed bubble of self-confirming establishment group-think.
@DrJaredWesley It makes sense from an evolutionary perspective. The group that’s held the power for centuries doesn’t want to give it up without a big fight. But not all adaptive instincts serve us well in modern day. (For example, the urge to eat calorie-rich foods all winter).
