I am a hematologist and I can tell you this is not true. Patients have to pay out of pocket all the time for intravenous iron at the Ottawa hospital. Please check your facts.

@DrKhamisa The key here is "registered out patient of hospital" My daughter was ordered infusions at a Toronto specialty clinic where she was a registered pt. So they were free. But in her Northern Ontario home community they were not, because she wasn't a registered pt there.
@DrKhamisa @JodyO44867056 This is appalling @SylviaJonesMPP @MaritStiles @MikeSchreiner @JohnFraserOS all 3 opposition parties need to jump on this and inform the federal minister @markhollandlib
@DrKhamisa @Colleenmom3 When it comes to medications especially life saving ones, these should be free. It never made sense to me why medications costs so much.
@DrKhamisa They're totally lying. My anemia required repeated transfusions, still does. They were forced to use compassionate, donated stock to do all my transfusions because they wouldn't cover this medical condition. I would've gone without and been further damaged or died.
@DrKhamisa I’m a patient receiving iron transfusions- been having to pay for a couple of years now.
@DrKhamisa When provincial government's lie to the people on healthcare coverage -you know we are all in trouble. #ResignDougFord you are a fraud. #NeverCPC
@DrKhamisa This is a fascinating thread, the issues this week in Alberta have shone a light on the disparities across the country. Even within Ontario, hospitals who’s budgets are capable of absorbing the cost are paying for IV Fe, and those who are tens of millions in debt are charging pts
@DrKhamisa @peggy_blair But should they have to? Canada Blood Services should be covering it (at least) to decrease transfusions. Should be covered by the province.
