@NoCore23 @GurusPod @KonstantinKisin Why? Why would you say this? What’s the value in the Kisin interview?

@add_hawk It's militarization aimed at capitalism rather than combat or war.

@KonstantinKisin I think of myself as a tolerant person, but I’m intolerant of drunk driving. I think of myself as kind but will be unkind to drunk drivers under certain circumstances. Are you referring to me? What you’re saying here needs nuance to be anything other than extremism apologetics.

@GurusPod Should have just cropped one of those nipples as a hint. 😆

@LeeCMcIntyre I’m more skeptical because I had been 100% focused on consumption (along with most others?) and had zero skepticism about that. However, refocusing on the environmental impact I think there are much more difficult scientific questions yet to be answered (that I’m aware of).

@LeeCMcIntyre I was intending to point out a conflation in the overall conversation that your book led me to understand. I felt I needed to work to find the conflation after reading your book, but that’s likely a product of my processing the info more than it is anything about your book.

@LeeCMcIntyre - after reading your chapter on GMOs, I find myself more skeptical of them. I believe there are two questions being conflated: 1) Are GM foods safe to ingest? 2) Are GM crops safe to grow? #1 is well studied and has clear scientific consensus. #2 is much less clear.

@matthewremski @LeeCMcIntyre Part of this teaching, in my opinion, is to show others that affect is NOT a replacement for accountability and track record.

@matthewremski @LeeCMcIntyre So let me propose another answer: how do we communicate humility to those around us? Commit to being accountable, building accountability, and above all else correction the record when you inevitably end up being wrong. Act accordingly and teach others to this standard.

@matthewremski - long time fan here. The discussion regarding social affect after discussing humility with @LeeCMcIntyre was a train wreck. The only valid reason for trusting information sources in the modern information ecosystem is track record.

@matthewremski @LeeCMcIntyre I don't disagree. But clinging to the same conclusions that someone gaming the system is not useful. I'm not saying the media landscape is straight forward. I'm saying there is only one way to accurately measure it other than personal expertise or coroberation.

Can you speak a little about how we might both maintain diversity as sacred while at the same time ensuring that those making harmful decisions based on misinformation are held accountable for the consequences? How can we keep it from slipping into extreme relativism? 2/2

@jon_rauch I really enjoyed your book The Constitution of Knowledge. I'd like to share it with family members who have slipped into anti-vax belief based on misinfo, but I'm afraid of how they will misuse the points made about diversity in chapter 7 to justify their stance. 1/2

@abbieasr With the hard copy, too, for those moments you need to skim or properly use an index. I own many books in all three formats. 😣

@DevraLeeDavis After reading Disconnect and finding it quite informative and interesting, I’ve been disappointed in the hyperbole and source quality you’ve followed it up with on Twitter. Just my 2¢.

@cailinmeister How about the plagiarized apology approach? wired.com/2013/12/labeou…

@NPRCoryTurner There is ambiguity in that citation, though, right? And while perhaps pedantically correct, clarity on the nature of that statement is the priority. Wherever "CDC says" is reported, I should be able to understand it as "CDC officially says", which I don't think is the case here.

@NPRCoryTurner's recent article cites a paper as "from the CDC" when the paper's disclaimer says "The findings and conclusions in this report are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official position of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."

@NPRCoryTurner Oh! Discussion of the sourcing has been included! Thank you! It's not fixed though. Just because CDC attribution is correct, the CDC is not as a whole officially making this case, which is what the headline implies.

@NPRCoryTurner At the very least mention this correspondence and confusion in your article? Simply citing an article as something that it explicitly says it is not without explanation sounds like a bad idea, right?
