The dollar index slipped roughly 11% in the first six months of the year, one of the steepest declines ever. A softer greenback supports non-USD and real asset exposure.
UBS lifting its gold targets ($3,800 by year-end; $3,900 by mid-’26) aligns with our stance: lower rates, weaker USD, and geopolitical risk keep the strategic case for gold intact.
Slower doesn’t mean ‘stop.’ Despite a slowdown, global central banks still bought net 10 tonnes of gold in July.
Our metal view extends beyond gold, especially as the energy transition scales. Silver, a key component of solar, EVs, and other clean energy tech, is now trading around a 14-year high amid the market’s growing anticipation of a Fed rate cut.

At 130.1, the FAO Food Price Index in August is sitting at the highest level recorded since February 2023, a reminder that food inflation remains a global pressure point.
The US unemployment rate ticked up 0.1 percentage points to 4.3% in August. While it remains relatively low, the joblessness rate still represents the highest level recorded since October 2021.
