AT: I use music in my classroom a lot, but the most effective way is to ask my students for music suggestions. I preview them and pick some for journal prompts. The students then journal about whatever the song brings to mind while it is playing on repeat. #mesqir2019 #makeitreal

Want students to remember something? Ask them to draw it! Research shows that drawing boosts learning by forcing us to process information in multiple ways: visually, kinesthetically, and linguistically.

I tell my students a story about a personal experience, whether funny or serious. I then let them write papers or journal about their own experiences that they are reminded of. Students create much better products when I share something in my life. #makeitreal #mesqir2019
