What did an office job look like before computers or cell phones? People got to the office at 9am. There was just a desk there, and a telephone. What did they even do? I know there’s an answer to this. I don’t know what it is.
@realEstateTrent There was something called an “In Box”. You reached into it, took out a letter or document, read it and processed it in some manner. Then you reached in again and handled the next. Over and over. 🙂
@EBurdine @realEstateTrent You just made me realize I actually worked in an office pre-PC in my youth. You're right. It was about paper flow.

@EBurdine @realEstateTrent Lots of phone calls on land lines. Leaving messages with people that were written down on slips of paper. Then called those numbers back.
@EBurdine @realEstateTrent The post arrived before lunch, then after lunch! Heady days!
@EBurdine @realEstateTrent I don't know. My job only exists because of cell phones and pc's
@EBurdine @realEstateTrent Sounds like the dream tbh, one task at a time???
@EBurdine @realEstateTrent I worked as an office junior at a solicitors in the early 90s - photocopying, filing, making tea, answering phones, carrying messages. Favourite job, organising the old files - a huge attic full of them.
@EBurdine @realEstateTrent So that's why my office has this container labeled in box, out box, and dispose
