The last Black member of @ColumbusGov to be elected without a previous appointment was 27 years ago. She was a Republican, and she went on to become Treasurer while Bob Taft plead no contest to breaking ethics laws.

The City government has been casting this smokescreen for generations: keep the under-represented pacified by grooming, installing, and then running affable Black candidates. They can ignore problems facing Black and poor ppl bc they're being paid by rich white oligarchs.
