Distress, emotional and physical pain, #dissociation: create a #'safe place in your mind for you . Use when you hurt
#dissociation is also 'escape when there is no escape'. Being powerless: when #raped, #tortured, assaulted, #abused, #chronicpain, accident
#Dissociation is being present but absent. 'Zoned out'. Box of chocolates and you in house. Chocolates gone later. You don't who ate them!
Remember when you were physically in a meeting at work but had 'zoned out'?Everyday #dissociation is common, harmless
#Olfactory reference syndrome, belief that one has an unpleasant smell, can be lifelong. Also accessible to #trauma based treatment.
#Body dysmorphic disorder & past trauma. #McGoldrick et al treated BDD with #EMDR, resolving trauma memories feeding BDD.
