Today is National Best Friends Day. Pray for a good friend - by name, and with specific thanksgiving and requests. God created us for relationships. Let's be grateful for His gift.
What did you learn in a Sunday Bible class or sermon? How is it affecting your Monday? Ask God to help the lesson become real in you.
"You will say the wrong thing if you talk too much – so be sensible and watch what you say" (Prov 10:19). Dear Father, help me learn this truth and live by it. Help me keep my mouth shut and my ears open.
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Rom 10:15). There is plenty of bad news every day. But our God is a God of good news. Are you sharing it? Thank God for the good news, and may He help us talk about it more than the bad news we hear from the world.
"Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely" (Ps 63:7-8). People need to feel secure, now more than ever. Pray for God to make us more aware of the life, love, promises, and provision He gives.
Some lessons in life can only be learned the hard way. And God, as a loving Father, allows us to be trained by them. There are some difficult times I would never want to do again, but I would not trade the lessons for anything. Thank you, God, for lessons learned the hard way.
You would think coming out COVID would be all joy and gladness. But for many there can also be feelings of anxiety, that something is missing, or not quite right. Feelings can be difficult to understand. But God knows how to help. Call out to Him - for yourself or another.
"All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or the slightest hint of change" (James 1:17). Have you stopped to think how good this is?! Praise God for His faithfulness, day in and day out.
Have you thought about how many prayers God listens to every day? Yet, He gives attention to each as if it were the only one. What an awesome Father we have! Are you listening to Him as carefully? Thank God for His listening ear, and commit to listening to Him more intently.
How did God bless you over the weekend? Name just one thing. Then talk to God about it. Why did it bless you? How will it help you bless others? How will you thank God for His abundant kindness toward you?
“It is not good for the man to be alone” (Gen 2:18). It is one of the ways we were created in God’s image. Thank God for your friends by name and pray for His blessings in their lives.
What has God created that brings you delight? Giggling children? A playful pet? A beautiful sunrise? Flying a kite? Taking a walk? A flavorful fruit? Stretching? The smell after the rain? A senior couple holding hands? Thank God today, and keep your senses alert for more.

So what does it mean to pay attention to people on Sunday? Focus on the person in front of you. Ask good questions! Even prepare them in advance. Listen for the details. When people talk, ask a follow-up question. Attempt to focus on the one person to whom you are speaking.
