Ranking Member @BobbyScott began his remarks by reminding everyone of what happened in 2017 when white supremacists marched through the University of Virginia's campus chanting, "Jews will not replace us." The rally ultimately ended up inciting violence, injury, and death.

The rally at UVA was not an isolated event. We cannot ignore its connection to the hate we see on campuses now. This is a byproduct of our country’s centuries-long history of white supremacy and antisemitism. Nonetheless, schools have a responsibility to foster safe campuses.
