That parent had been refused support for the EHCP as “other children have it much worse” when are schools going to realise that behavior is communication and help!
We left a school a few years ago due to there absolute lack of support for children with Sen. We were promised once we got our diagnosis that they would train their staff better.
@Lisa_SEND Camhs also won’t support if you have an ASD diagnosis …..so it then unravels further
SEND terminology that's useful for parents... What would your top 3 be? @AskListenAct @SarahCombe @fightermum @EhcpParent @PSCRuth @mum_sheffield @sencochat @SendcoSolutions @NorthernTink83 @Beth_Tastic @mumtomillion @MumSendinTarn @janethesenco @SencoEarly RTs appreciated 😊
We have had our EHCP refusal revoked by the LA! But I’m under no illusion. The real fight starts now. #schoolchoice
This. Just this.
This is masking. This is unmet needs. This is not inclusion. This makes a child very unwell.
‘I can’t work’: the mothers left to fight alone for their children’s mental health care. So much resonated with me here, I had to share. theguardian.com/society/2021/a…
Mother moves into caravan 120 miles away from family home so disabled son, 7, can attend school. “You are dropped by a system that makes you fight for everything, and feel you are constantly in battle mode, in order to get your child’s needs met. ow.ly/k5xr30rQrRX
Unfortunately we are still hearing about children with SEND who don't have a school to attend from September 2021. We’ve produced this guidance to help parents and carers who are in this situation: buff.ly/2znNP8s
We are still waiting for our tribunal date, we were told pre-covid 10 days, during covid 20 days now we are over 20 days and are being told any day now. Secondary choice getting more unlikely by the day.
@foxfreckle Completely farcical! Thank you! It means we probably won’t make the deadline for the only provision that’s right for my child. Sen school with a mainstream ed. For girls with autism. Absolutely insane.
Just spoke to a secondary school SENDCO about SEN support. On talking he said Class sizes for bottom set are 36 he presumed my highly intelligent daughter would be in the bottom set because she has SEN. Things need to change!
Absolutely shocking news. This will have an impact of many send children that are already struggling.
So yesterday – after months of asking – we finally learned the true cost of the govt's pupil premium "stealth cut". But this story is about so much more than the final figure. It's a tangled tale of DfE secrecy, furious backlash, and painful budget cuts... A thread 👇 (1/24)
@TrudiMartin1 @MLKCL2010 That’s exactly it. Our lawyer took one look at our needs assessment and couldn’t believe that they had refused to issue. It’s on us to make sure they are accountable.
Can anyone confirm how long the wait is for tribunal? #sendhelp
@TrudiMartin1 @MLKCL2010 I’m astounded at how shocking the system is, while waiting for diagnosis we felt we would get support once we had a letter to confirm. Turns out it’s just a constant.
@MLKCL2010 @TrudiMartin1 Yes our local council has a reputation of going to tribunal frequently, wirh 95% of those cases being overturned prior to or at tribunal. I have frequently written to our local conservative MP to no avail. Generic response emails with no positive affect.
@Isylv85 Thanks Ian, how frustrating! We are at tribunal for a refuse to issue and I’m sure we will also be back to tribunal to get our named school so this could go on for a very long time.!
