This is a cherrypicked list of mid/small cities (notably missing: NYC, Chicago, KC, LA, DC, Houston, Minneapolis). Even sadder, all it shows is that things are still far worse than they were before the Floyd Riots and the new progressive permission structure for crime.

I find this sort of attempted rhetorical swindle (little better than intellectual three-card monte for the internet's equivalent of tourists) offensive. Murder is "down," yes. But not down to pre-2019. It's like asking voters to accept Bideninflation is the "new normal."
@EsotericCD They’re not “cherrypicked.” They’re the cities with the largest declines. It says so right in the header. “Cherrypicking” has a clear and specific meaning and this ain’t it.
@EsotericCD Are you having some kind of cerebral episode, or are you just a typical conservative liar? The article cites the data in ALL those cities.
@EsotericCD @philthatremains In Austin last April, they were talking about their 27th murder ytd. In 2017, there were 27 murders for the whole year. Sure, it's "going down".. from recent highs.
@EsotericCD The article cites data from all of those cities. These are just the ones with the biggest drops. wsj.com/us-news/murder…
@EsotericCD The number of homicides has fallen because of the proliferation of tech like shotspotter to hasten emergency response and trauma units becoming much more experienced. The number of total shootings has not declined as much.
@EsotericCD Respectfully, you need to read the article you claim to dislike before trashing it, as it addresses the declines in those cities too. You should delete this. @CommunityNotes
@EsotericCD You should look at the underlying data source. Homicide is down across most major cities, and those trends predict the national rates: ahdatalytics.com/dashboards/ytd…
@EsotericCD where's Portland, ooh right our murders are up compared to this time last year
