@Flame314 What resources, books and authors would you point someone too, who was interested in understanding the basics of Lutheran beliefs and how they differ from traditional Calvinism. I just started reading “The Great Divide”.Digging it so far.

There’s a difference between unity and uniformity. Unity is we believe the same things. Uniformity is we have to do it the same way. What was often called community in evangelicalism was actually communiformity. Communiformity destroyed relationships. Community can restore them

In Romans 1 God says ppl are suppressors of the truth. In Romans 3 it says “No one is good, not even one.” All of this is true. But the Bible never tells us to think about ppl this way. It commands us to love our neighbors, not see them as suppressors of the truth.

In the spirit of the Pharisees, we compare ourselves with other people. In the spirit of a Christ we compare ourselves to his Word

The world constantly reminds us of the fear of death. But the Word reminds us constantly of the death of fear.

For believers, faith in the gospel is not a belief in some good news, it’s a responsibility to a good God. It’s good news when we hear it. And a responsibility once we believe it

It’s amazing that people will trust the Lord that when they die they’ll get in heaven, but don’t trust the Lord for how they die that gets them to heaven. Everybody’s not dying peacefully in their sleep. The way we die is his will too...

The Lord has so fully pardoned us that the very thing that caused his death, Adam and Eve eating the fruit, has become the very language used to demonstrate genuine faith in him. Bearing fruit.
