Practical formulas, shortcuts & interview problems.

Want to become a 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘁? Don’t start with 10 tools.
Start with these:
𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹 → Analyze
𝗦𝗤𝗟 → Query
𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗜 → Visualize
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 → Prove your skills
𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 → Get hired
You don’t need to know everything.
Excel skills required for interviews:
• IF / IFS Formula
• XLOOKUP
• Pivot Tables
• Simple chart
• Functions TEXT
• COUNTIFS / SUMIFS
All 6 should be learned by beginners.
Excel tip: Don’t rush into advanced formulas.
First learn to clean, organize, and structure data.
Then master XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, and FILTER.
Good Excel skills aren’t about knowing more formulas. They’re about solving problems faster.
@officialladi_T I’d go with Excel + SQL first. Excel builds your data fundamentals, while SQL teaches you how to actually work with data at scale. Then add Power BI once those two feel comfortable.
If you’re learning Excel for your career, don’t focus only on formulas.
Learn how to solve real problems:
• Clean messy data.
• Build reports.
• Automate repetitive tasks.
• Create dashboards.
• Explain the numbers.
That’s the difference between knowing Excel.
@officialladi_T I’d say E. I’m already working as a Data Analyst, but I’m still learning and improving every day. There’s always another problem to solve and another skill to sharpen.
Want to become a Data Analyst? Start with Excel.
Don’t try to learn everything at once.
Master Excel first: clean data, analyze it, build reports, and solve real problems.
Then move to SQL + Power BI.
Learn one skill, use it in real projects, then move to the next.
You have 10,000 sales rows.
You need to find the total sales for the IT department where sales are above $1,000.
Would you use:
A) SUM
B) SUMIF
C) SUMIFS
D) SUMPRODUCT
Don't just pick the formula.
Explain why. 👇
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴.
Learn Excel → build a project.
Learn SQL → build a project.
Learn Power BI → build a project.
Your projects should grow 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀, not come after them.
If you’re learning Excel for Data Analytics, don’t try to learn 500 formulas.
Start with these 10:
XLOOKUP
SUMIFS
COUNTIFS
IF
FILTER
TEXTSPLIT
TRIM
LEFT / RIGHT
INDEX + MATCH
IFERROR
Master these with real datasets and you’ll be surprised how much you can do in Excel.
My Data Analytics stack:
Excel → SQL → Power BI
Not because they're the only tools that matter.
Because they're enough to build a very strong foundation.
