Reminder that for maybe 15 years, Leaf fans booed Alfie for *pretending* to toss a broken stick in the stands because…..respect/class/code? Leaf fans have a long history of being sensitive and delicate flowers with easily hurt feelings.
The booing was not because of the Tucker hit, which might have made more sense, since that was probably a penalty, but instead Alfie scored on the play
@Fffeisty Don't forget it was ok for their player to *actually* throw the stick also. Rational and impartial they are not
@Fffeisty 1967 tends to wear on Leaf players I guess.
@Fffeisty It’s more likely that he was booed because Don Cherry was xenophobic and had a platform to condition the Leafs fans to act a certain way towards certain players as a result.
@Fffeisty Wrong. The booing was a result of the Tucker hit that should have kicked him out of the game. It didn't and he went on to score the OT winner. And Alfie stirred it up with the stick jesture, which to be honest was pretty funny.
