I haven’t misinterpreted anything. You misunderstand the distinction between “Lithos” and “Petros/Petra” which mean “Cornerstone” and “Rock” (not pebble) respectively. Christ is the “Lithos” or Cornerstone (1 Peter 2:6). If your “faith” requires you to disregard that Our Lord appointed Simon Bar Jona is its “Cephas/Petrus,” as the “Rock” of the Church (John 1:42 et al.) . . . Requires you to pretend that He did not appoint Simon Bar Jona as His Vicar on Earth . . . Requires you to rationalize the Titular “Cephas” as no more than a nickname . . . Requires you to ignore the fact that Peter is mentioned more than all the other Apostles combined in the Gospels . . . And requires you to relegate all those extraordinary feats Peter performed beginning with Pentecost as historical footnotes . . . @Burgess7281975 Does is matter that you misinterpret Matthew 16? Peter himself clarifies succinctly in 1 Peter 2. Jesus is the one and only Cornerstone. All believers, including Peter, are living stones that make up the spiritual house – the Church. It's quite simple.
