Toronto drivers: How many times have you hit the brakes on the 401 for no obvious reason? One driver slows down, the next brakes harder, and suddenly hundreds of cars are crawling This is called a phantom traffic jam Where on the 401 does this happen most often? #TorontoTraffic

Ever lost 5 extra minutes each way on Toronto’s 401 between Hwy 427 and 400? Over 250 workdays, that’s nearly 42 hours a year. An example—not measured delay. Should Ontario publish rush-hour travel times for this exact stretch? #TorontoTraffic

You’re on Toronto’s Hwy 401 between 427 and 400. Suddenly everyone brakes. A 1998 MTO-backed study documented merging and lane-continuity bottlenecks near Hwy 409 and Weston Rd. We need updated measurements—not more driver blame. Which merge is worst today? #TorontoTraffic

Toronto traffic isn’t just about too many cars. Drivers blocking the passing lane and sudden braking at highway interchanges can turn small slowdowns into major backups. Keep right unless passing. Merge smoothly. Where do you see this most in Toronto? #TorontoTraffic #Fix401

You leave work on time. Imagine Toronto’s Hwy 401 adds 10 minutes to your trip home on 250 workdays: that’s 41h 40m lost. Which Toronto expressway interchange slows you down most? #TorontoTraffic

One Toronto trip can cross two traffic-camera systems: City-operated on the Gardiner, DVP & Allen Road; Ontario-run on Hwy 401, 427 & 404. A practical fix: publish joint monthly incident metrics—time to detect, warn drivers and reopen lanes. #TorontoTraffic #Fix401

Toronto says each coordinated Gardiner/DVP weekend maintenance closure can replace 30+ overnight lane closures and save up to 25% versus separate overnight work (April 2026 estimate). Smart planning matters. Publish the actual results. #TorontoTraffic #Fix401

What could 10 minutes of idling cost Toronto? If 10,000 cars idle 10 extra minutes daily: ⛽ 1.1 MILLION litres of fuel/year 💰 $1.71 MILLION wasted 🌍 2,519 tonnes of CO₂ Just one 365-day scenario—not Toronto’s measured total. We need smarter highways. #Fix401

Toronto’s Don Valley Parkway is just 15 km long, yet carries approximately 135,000 vehicles on an average weekday. We need more than traffic counts. Publish monthly travel-time reliability, incident-clearance times and safety results. Measure performance. #Fix401

One 15-km stretch of Toronto’s Hwy 401 cost drivers an estimated 3.2 MILLION hours and $82M a year, according to CAA’s 2017 study using 2015 data. What’s the cost TODAY? Toronto needs a public, highway-by-highway congestion scorecard. #Fix401

Ontario’s economy moves on Highway 401. Millions lose hours in traffic every week. This shouldn’t be normal. Ontarians deserve better highways. #Fix401
