RBA lifts target cash rate by 0.25% to 4.1%. Inflation touted as public enemy number one & household spending will need to absorb the interest costs for mortgage holders. Looks like more pain to come before any thought of a pivot.
A big thank you to the RBA for the foresight in slowing down the pace of interest rate rises. Yes we all know inflation is an issue but the lag effect of the rate rises will hit next year and perhaps by then the world will be on a better platform. RBA sets target cash rate @2.60%
The RBA lifted the target cash rate by 0.5% to 1.35% today. The ramp up continues but this move was expected so it is nice to see the S&P ASX200 in positive territory for a change. Guess the US holiday helped settle the volatility for a day.
The RBA lifted the target cash rate by 0.5% to 1.35% today. The ramp up continues but this was expected so it is nice to see the ASX200 in positive territory for a change. Guess the US holiday helps settle the volatility for a day.
The RBA lifted the target cash rate by 0.50% to 0.85% citing inflation higher than expected along with Global factors, including Covid-19 related supply chain disruptions and the conflict in the Ukraine. The move is higher than expected given the resilience of our economy.
RBA raises target cash rate 0.25% to 0.35% & will not reinvest maturing Government bonds. The RBA balance sheet is expected to decline significantly over the next 2 years but it is not planning to sell the Government bonds purchased during the pandemic.
RBA maintains target cash rate @ 0.10% & QE measures @ $4B a week until at least Feb 2022. It reaffirmed their stated objectives to return to full employment & inflation consistent with target 2% to 3%. Seems fair given the Covid situation, thank you Santa!
RBA leaves target cash rate @ 0.10% along with the April 2024 Aust Gov bond. The RBA will continue to buy $4B a week until Feb 2022. COVID delta variant outbreak pauses recovery as lock downs hurt the economy. Vaccination is the only way forward.
RBA left the target cash rate & April 2024 target bond rate @ 0.10% at today’s monetary policy board meeting. Govt bond purchases expected to be 4 billion a week until mid November 2021. The board commented that while job’s recovery is underway, inflation & wages are subdued.
No change to monetary policy from the RBA who left the target cash rate & 3 yr bond @ 0.10%. Their economic outlook remains positive with strong growth expected this year & the next but inflation still remains low & below the central banks targets so no change to their 2024 view.
RBA maintains target cash rate & yield on 3 year Aust bond rate @ 0.10%. Retains the parameters of the term funding facility & Government bond purchase program. ADI’s have drawn down $91B & have $91B left. RBA balance sheet increased by $175B since beginning of 2020.
RBA leaves the target cash rate @ 0.10% along with the 3 year bond yield. The term funding facility & Govt bond purchase programme are still in play. Unemployment & inflation are the main focus with the Board not expecting any increase in the target cash rate for at least 3 years
RBA leaves target cash rate @0.25% & maintains support for the target 3 year bond rate @ 0.25%. Unemployment remains the main focus along with support for jobs, income & the health of businesses.
RBA lowers target cash rate to 0.5% in response to expected impacts of the coronavirus. This move seeks to provide additional support to employment and economic activity. Every little bit helps!
RBA leaves target cash rate @ 0.75% despite the bushfires & corinavirus impacts. The real impact for both these events is likely to be further down the track so maybe they are keeping their powder dry just in case citing the outlook for the global economy remains reasonable.
The RBA left the target cash rate @ 0.75% citing partly the turnaround in domestic housing. Is this a temporary bounce or part of a comeback in demand for housing? Evidence suggests it may not continue as new dwelling activity slides and growth in housing credit remains low.
RBA drops target cash rate to 0.75%. Consumption remains the main concern along with the unemployment rate & slow wage growth. The trade war between the US & China is being blamed as the main catalyst for the softening economic conditions which are expected to continue to ease.
The RBA lowered the target cash rate to 1% from 1.25% at today’s monthly board meeting. Subdued consumption was the main concern along with soft domestic housing & low inflation. Employment was the bright spot but still holding above the 5% level. Let’s see how the banks respond.
RBA cuts target cash rate by 25bp to 1.25% in response to a softening economy. I think we will see more action later this year should the employment market fail to respond. Pressure on Banks to give borrowers a helping hand by reducing mortgage rates accordingly.
