Last night I raised my two amendments on clarifying that: 1) single-sex services really are for WOMEN ONLY and 2) that enhanced privacy rights afforded to sex offenders who change gender, to hide their previous crimes (eg in DBS checks) do not lead to gross safeguarding risks... (1/2)
Extraordinary that I received a fair response from the junior minister, but both Labour and Lib Dem opposition did not speak at all. That never happens. A snub to me, but more importantly their silence is an insult to women. After the #CassReview, such cowardice and complicity should be called out. (2/2)
@Fox_Claire Well done @Fox_Claire justified points made in the amendments and a shame they fell. You have however raised the profile of these issues and of the benefits of ministers’ teams listening to @SexMattersOrg 👏👏👏👏
@Fox_Claire Thank you Claire. X x x
@Fox_Claire There must be powerful forces behind this.
@Fox_Claire Thank you for standing up for women and children.
@Fox_Claire Claire, I read Hansard’s record of that part of the debate, your very clear and very compelling summary of why Amendment 17 was necessary, and Lord Roborough’s response. Although the amendment was withdrawn, I am very grateful indeed that you are on our side. Thank you.
@Fox_Claire Well said Claire …and thank you for supporting women
@Fox_Claire Smashing the binary…concepts over people.
@Fox_Claire The Cass Review is being touted as proving anti-trans people right all along. No. Choosing an anti-trans person to lead the review was extraordinary. She'd helped Ron DiSantis with his Florida anti-trans report! Then threw out much of the existing research which didn't suit her.
