Chancellor confirms that UK has given up trying to secure greater access to EU markets for financial services firms. City of London has been largely cut off since Brexit completed at end of last year. Sunak says deal on equivalence “has not happened”.
@ITVJoel Let this sink in …£1.2 Trillion in financial assets has left London since Brexit was announced in 2016👇
@Frankie61H My £1t+++ #Brexit hit subtotal keeps growing now these food and drink numbers are in (linkedin.com/posts/stephen-…). Swapping frictionless for frictioned trade w/ World's largest trading bloc (52% of #UK trade) (linkedin.com/posts/stephen-…) has never seemed so, well, misguided 🤷🏾♂️😫#Brexit
@Frankie61H @ITVJoel The Gov never wanted to include financial services in an EU trade deal as it is betting the City like all other UK industry will make up for the trade losses with EU by lowering regulations & thus drumming up more trade elsewhere they better be right or its curtains for the UK
@Frankie61H @ITVJoel It will be a slow trickle from now on.
@Frankie61H @ITVJoel @Conservatives fiscally inept.
