The scientific, medical, and public health evidence of harms from fracking to individuals, communities, and our planet is over-whelming: we need bold and decisive action from elected officials in Northern Ireland to act on that evidence.
. @MarkRuffalo says NI is way ahead of the fight they had in NY against fracking and gas extraction because there's now evidence to back up the impacts on health and the environment.
Preventing licenses for petroleum exploration can protect Northern Ireland -- which does not yet have a legislative ban on fracking -- just as a decision in 2014 not to issue permits in New York protected New Yorkers until a legislative ban was enacted many years later.
