That's the final shortlist of front runners for the much sought after hottest seat in Luo Nyanza, according to today's NATION. In first place, and showing them a clean pair of heels, is Leader of Minority James Opiyo Wandayi. The third term Ugunja MP comes with the explicit endorsement of Dr Ng'ong'a Molo Oburu Oginga, the official spokesperson and the cultural heir to the House of Jaramogi. At 51, the only thing Wandayi needs to do is to stay alive to see his fledgling ambitions take to the sky. Huffing and puffing in second place is first time Siaya Governor and long-time Raila Odinga's understudy, James Bob Aggrey Orengo Nyatieng' wuod Nyamayanga. The second liberation hero, who has dodged more bullets in defense of social justice than your favourite human rights advocate, now looks a place shadow of his former fiery self and you wouldn't blame him. Even Jesus Christ became tired of arguing with those who couldn't see his point of view at only 33. Rounding up the podium places is Prof Peter Anyang' Nyong'o, considered to be Luo Nyanza's Scholar-In-Chief, and another of Orengo's Alliance High School colleague in the struggle, is the oldest of the bunch. At 77, Prof Nyong'o is not only Raila Odinga's agemate but also his most preferred sounding board. Of the 13 in the shortlist, Prof Nyong'o will be the first casualty of Raila Odinga's exit from the political stage in what is widely known in Accounting circles as FIFO - First In First Out.
