🔍 How to verify the hash of a .wasm deployed to the IC
see shared post below
🤷♂️ Why does it matter?
Normalizing being able to audit certain types of canisters would help ICP's DeFi/NFT ecosystem gain credibility and help prevent bad actors from deploying deceitful or malicious contracts.
🙇♂️ Isn't that a lot of work?
It's not. The best patch-fix that works today with little effort is to encourage make available both the source and the built wasm (that is in the .dfx/canisters/ic folder of a project)
😀 But I trust them and you should too
Simple DeFi contracts have no good reason not to make things auditable-- these are modules that should be at most a couple hundred to few thousand lines of user-code. These contracts are responsible for keeping things fair, ... i.e. when you mint an NFT you expect it to be random, when you participate in a launch you expect it to be fair and without backdoors, etc etc... It shouldn't be a black box.
Example of how that would look 👇
