One year before Galway Rovers joined the League of Ireland, the club played 3 games in the 1976 League Cup. The side was managed by Tommy Lally and captained by Eamonn Deacy RIP. Here is a photo to the starting XI.

There was a footballer called Horgan who played for Drogheda Utd in 1992. He is the first player on the list so was he a goalkeeper? Any connection to the Hogan brothers (Kevin, Daryl, Colm & Chris) who all played in LOI? Or is related to Ollie Horgan who is coach at Finn Harps?

The original Galway Rovers’ crest was based on the Claddagh ring symbol. This has been cleverly included in the 2022 Galway United shirt. Masterstroke by designer @morganobrienart

Today I received a batch of photos from ex Galway United player Terry O’Reagan. Many of the photos have never been published before. Terry came to Galway in 1990 from Clonakilty and still lives here and attends home games.
